Welcome to Idaho's Agricultural Past
The historic Schick-Ostolasa Farmstead is located in the foothills north of Boise, 15 minutes from downtown.

The farmstead was inhabited from the 1860s - 2005. It is the longest continuously inhabited home in the state of Idaho.

Today, the preserved Farmstead site covers 2 acres along Dry Creek, with seven historic farm buildings: the Farmhouse, a Detached Red Cookhouse and Spring House (called the Red House), Root Cellar, Woodshed, Saddle Shed, Granary, and a Horse Barn.
​
The historic site was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2006 for its regional significance as an outstanding example of early homesteading in Idaho, and 19th & 20th century agriculture in the West.
​
Our primary tenets are not only to preserve the Farmstead and property but also to educate. We do this through our School Tours, Events, Farmhouse Tours (May - September), Newsletters, etc. We hope you visit us and learn what makes this Farmstead so special.

Valentine Ostolasa (1925 - 2022)
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Valentine Ostolasa passed away in her sleep on February 14, 2022 (Valentine's Day) at the age of 97 years.
​
Valentine moved with her family to the Schick-Ostolasa Farmstead in 1927 and lived there most of her life. The Schick-Ostolasa Farmstead was honored to have a visit from Valentine in June of 2021. She had a smile on her face that made a lasting impression on all of us.
She was a lovely and amazing woman and pioneer of the Dry Creek Valley.
Woodshed dedicated to Valentine on May 6, 2023. Her nephew, Robert Ostolasa made the sign.
